Why Work at Conifex

Our name is a combination of the words ‘Conifer’ and ‘Excellence,’ and excellence is what we strive to achieve – in our fibre, our products, our partners, and most importantly in our greatest resource, the people who work for us. We place people at the centre of everything we do and we want to help our people achieve their best.

We offer competitive salaries, benefits, professional development and many opportunities to advance. You will join a positive, supportive team that promotes excellence and safety in all we do.

As part of the Conifex team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference on our land base, contribute to your community and lead the future of forestry.

PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

At Conifex, there are many learning and development opportunities as well as mentorship to facilitate continual career growth among our team. We collaborate one-on-one with our people to create career development plans catered to each individual’s specific career goals. For instance, we provide ongoing professional development and support for our people to maintain their professional designations. In partnership with BCIT, we also support student cohorts to earn their Associate Certificate in the Industrial Wood Processing program and Business of Sawmilling program.

Our Three C Leadership Development Program fosters an inclusive organizational culture of care, where all employees are treated with respect, care and consideration.

Whether it’s supporting you to get that next trades ticket, an apprenticeship or management training, we want you to have a successful and fulfilling career.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

We cultivate a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment and aim to have a team that reflects the diversity of B.C. and our communities. Diverse worldviews enrich our workplace, leading to better decisions and ultimately a stronger company.

Our human resource practices ensure there are equal opportunities to join and grow with us. Beyond diversity in our hiring practices, we provide mentorship and professional development to retain diverse talent and provide equitable opportunities. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, bullying and harassment in our workplace, backed by our Respectful Workplace Policy. We also commit to reporting diversity metrics annually to Statistics Canada. For example, almost one-third of our company is made of women, and we have set targets in our Diversity, Inclusion & Equity Action Plan to increase the proportion of equity-seeking groups in our workforce, including women, Indigenous people, visible minorities and youth. Our Plan also outlines strategies to recruit, retain and promote career growth among diverse populations.
