ABOUT US
Who We Are
Conifex is a next generation Canadian forest products company operating in one of the richest fibre baskets in North America, northern British Columbia. We produce high-quality lumber products and renewable energy from our sawmill and bioenergy plant in Mackenzie, B.C.
Our team is made up of specialized experts with a lifetime of experience in forest products who deliver world-class structural grade SPF dimension lumber as well as clean, renewable energy from our sawmill residuals.
We take our commitment to environmental sustainability seriously. We re-use residuals from what we manufacture to produce clean renewable energy and sell a variety of sustainable wood products to local customers. And we employ sustainable logging practices, focused on biological diversity, recreational and ecosystem benefits in the forests we manage, all under internationally recognized certification standards.
We are proud to invest in a healthy and safe work culture, creating sustainable economic opportunities for the people of northern British Columbia.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Make it safe; make it personal; make it home.
Our Safety Commitment
At Conifex, we’re committed to eliminating all workplace injuries, illnesses and unsafe practices.
We know injuries are preventable, so our management team regularly provides training and information to equip everyone with the tools they need to practice safe behaviour and maintain safety rules and regulations. Our vision is to get to zero by 2025. By zero we mean zero fatalities, zero critical incidents, zero injuries and zero harm.
To help us achieve this safety vision, we created our Recover at Work program. In partnership with Work Safe BC, this program was developed to keep people connected to their livelihood and on a faster track to return to work, whether they are injured at home or at work. Our Conifex 5 and Critical Incident Reporting Program (CIR) have supported our efforts in raising emphasis, response and focus on high risk work activities. We have also invested in a state-of-the-art dust management system to make our sites safe and employees safer.
Our efforts are making a difference. From 2017-2019, we had 322 fewer lost days and a 30% reduction in time lost due to injuries. At the end of the day, we want to make sure that our most valued asset – our people – make it home safely to their families.
Certification
Our safety commitment is reinforced by our Environmental, Health and Safety Policy outlining the roles and responsibilities of everyone in promoting a safe workplace.
We are proudly SAFE Certified and maintain accountability to our workforce through regular audits by the B.C. Forestry and Safety Council.
